shower!

So I had my baby shower this weekend. It was a lot of fun! I am waiting to get some of the pictures from my sisters, so sorry none today! Anyways. Life is just going here in Utah Valley. I go to see the doctor on Wednesday and then I go to my weekly visits after that! WOW! I have just about a month to go and I sure am getting anxious. My belly keeps getting lower and sticking out farther and farther. I have a tendency to run into people and things as well as knocking stuff off of tables with the belly.

I guess that sort of thing is likely to happen when the baby is nearing 7 lbs and getting longer and longer as he is cramped inside my belly. According to the last ultrasound and my timing, it shows that he is about the size of a stalk of leeks! I couldn't really picture it, so I went and got the comparison picture with the quarter. I don't know how this little guys fits in my belly, but it really is a miracle to see just how much he grows!

Belly Laugh

Well, another weekend has passed by and life is starting to get a little more organized. We cleaned the baby's room out and Spencer set the baby's crib up. It is so nice now! The wood on the crib is the perfect accent for the green on the walls of the room. There isn't any junk on the floor from the move (got that all taken care of too!) and Now it is just about baby ready!

Last week was a tough one at work. Because I am carrying around a full sized baby that is not ready to be born yet, every time that I get up to do something, its like I am lifting weights at the gym. Also, I am pretty sure that the baby is dropping into my hips because I wake up at night and have to turn to my other side because my hip just aches. When I walk around here at work, I can feel it too. Sometimes when I sit indian style or bhudda style, I can feel movement right there at the lower curve of my hip bone. Sometimes it tickles, sometimes it hurts.
Spencer really has been my biggest support these days. He is my lamaze coach and we are going to our second class tonight ! Woo HOO! He has been helping around the house a lot and just doing what he can to help me and the baby. The picture was actually from memorial day weekend and it shows how spencer can still pick me up eventhough I am WAY heavier than what I once was!

Melon

Ok. So the this picture shows approximate size of the baby in comparison to a quarter. Thats good to know!

I would just like to say that whoever said that Utah doesn't get that hot, has never lived here and been pregnant. The building that I work at was a little on the fritz and for some strange reason, nobody knows why, the heater was on for part of the day. We figured that out and just turned everything off in hopes of cooling the place down...Not so Lucky! By the time we left at 5 pm, it was 83 degrees. Even the healthy, not pregnant people wanted to just melt into a puddle. The day got a little better though. Yesterday was also my first Lamaze class. It was pretty good. Had a few questions asked that helped me understand what my body might be going through and how to deal with it. Going from a really hot evening outside, to the air conditioned hospital classroom was GREAT! After the teacher found out how to make it even cooler, all of the women were in a better state of mind and life was good. We also did this relaxation thingy and when it was done, I think I could have just fallen asleep there. That is kinda nice.

Football Baby

We had or most recent doctor appointment this past friday. Good news...I am not diabetic, or even close to it! Other news...the NFL called, said they wanted to start early signing for our little boy. Just kidding! The doctor just told me that there is one big baby in there. According to an average scale, at this point in the pregnancy, he should be about 4-5 lbs. WELL....that is where he was at 2 weeks ago in his ultrasound. I asked Dr Larkin what he might be at now, and I was told between 5 and 6 lbs. HOLY MOLEY! That is pretty much the size of a newborn, maybe a little less. Still have 7 weeks to go though.

Another point of good news...the baby flipped over and is now heads down. No more big head in my ribs! YAY! Instead my stomach became a kickboxing bag for the little guy. It is a big relief knowing that he is in the right position and getting ready for his debut.

burning belly

So I am trying not to complain too much as my third trimester progresses, but there is just one thing thing that makes me want to complain about a bunch of other things. So the baby hasn't flipped over yet and his head is still up in my ribs, growing with each passing day. This week has been the hardest. He pushes up high to the point that my muscles are getting streched more and more and then I start to feel the burn. Like the feeling you would get after stretching a muscle that hasn't been stretched for a while and you know it is stretching good when you get that burning feeling. Well, this is a lot like that. It almost feels like someone is ironing my belly or slowly pouring hot water on the top of my tummy. Whenever I put pressure on the spot, it feels ok for a second and then comes right back. Whenever Spencer puts pressure on there, the little guy quickly starts behaving and the burn goes away for a lot longer than when I do the same thing. I guess our little one knows that when daddy comes around, its time to be nice to mom!

Doing the Wave

SO I don't have any pictures to go with this little entry, but I think it is so cool to sit and watch my belly do the wave. It seriously does the wave over and over and over. Sometimes I sit there and look down and tell Spencer that I have a lump on my belly and sure enough, there is one spot that just sticks out. The baby is still heads up so most of the wiggling goes on lower on the gut. I don't even have to be sitting down to see my little wiggler jab and twist and roll. I just look down wherever I am and enjoy the show.
Other times, I get a kick out of pressing lightly on one spot and watching him try to get comfortable again. Poor little guy. I guess that is why he likes to move around more when I am asleep.
